...about monetizing your ideas with Heather Teysko
Meet Heather
Heather is an inspiring individual that shares with us her journey of giving up a six-figure secure job to move her little family to Spain to pursue making a living as a history podcaster.
Heather had previously worked from home running California's largest library consortium when she was away at a conference during a blistery cold February on Super Bowl’s big game day when she suffered a disastrous fall outside her hotel, one that left her stranded on the cold concrete for longer that she would have liked. She ended up getting a settlement from the hotel and took that as a sign to pursue entrepreneurship and really work on her podcast full-time.
Heather had started her show englandcast.com in 2009 and was getting about 25,000 downloads a month when she suffered her life-changing fall. So with the settlement, she packed up her bags, rented out her house, and went to Andalucia in June 2015.
Since then she has self-published books, a planner that has sold thousands of copies (the Tudor Planner) and has a Shopify store that sells lovingly-curated Tudor Swag that hit six figures in revenue the first year. Her podcast has 126 episodes to date and regularly has about 60,000 downloads/month. She hosts live shows in England, been a speaker at the Sound Education educational podcasting conference at Harvard, and at the Jeff Goins Tribe conference of creative entrepreneurs. Heather also founded and launched the worlds first ever Tudorcon in Manheim, Pennsylvania with such success a Tudorcon2020 is in the works, click here for more information.

Here are a few of Heather’s top tips:
Don’t be attached to how it’s going to look
If you become attached to how it is going to look, you will not be open to potentially more successful products or revenue streams. Be open to advice, suggestions, and filling a hole in the market. Create a product that you are looking for.
Outsource, outsource, outsource!
Maybe you can do it all, but it doesn’t mean you should. Outsource some of your workflows or systems to help streamline and grow you business faster. Some of the resources Heather mentions in the podcast are:
Host Live Events
Any kind of live event will help you grow hype around your launching products or services. Heather mentions the following events that helped her grow her podcast and merchandise sales.
Book Club
Webinars
Live Event
Meet and Greet
Live podcast recording
